Sanne Oude Veldhuis started as a pensions consultant with BexerHamstra in September 2024. She took a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics at the University of Twente, the Netherlands. While still in college, she earned her teaching qualification and worked, among other things, as a student assistant and an intern at a high school.
‘Using knowledge and logic to solve clients’ problems is what I enjoy. After my mathematics studies I therefore chose consultancy on purpose. I like that it’s concrete rather than abstract. You see what you are working at, and what is done with your ideas.
I like making difficult matters understandable. This I found already when I taught maths as an intern at a high school. Pension schemes and the transition to a new pension system may seem complex, but the trick is to explain it so that the penny drops. To this end, I must put myself in other people’s places, to understand what things look like from their perspective. And this applies not only to managers, but to all employees of the organization.
I like to think logically and I am good at analysis, but I believe it is equally important to really listen to one’s clients. What they want and consider important is what it’s about, after all.’
